I took Mom to Pet Smart today at noon to get Lily groomed.  Boy what a mess!  They had Santa set up to take pictures of Santa and your pet right in front of the grooming room door.  Then on to return a salad spinner from Costco and the parking lot there was chaos and mess galore.  On to buy a Christmas gift at a store that no longer is in existence, so driving around Shiloh crossing, around and around, and around with a mess of cars and few open parking spaces talking to Siri and having Mom try to line up the blue arrow and the red marker on Google Maps. HaHa.  Mom enjoyed getting out and about.  Then home to finish up Clue #4 on the mystery and to tackle this sewing room mess.

I made some progress.  Shifting shit as Carol calls it.

I did finish up one project that has been lying around.

And started quilting on my scrappy star struck by Bonnie Hunter.

I used the stripology ruler to cut my strips, so they are all the same size.  I do think that helped because my triangles and squares fit right together like they are suppose to.  I finished all my blocks by Saturday early afternoon after having to take my mom to Pet Smart.

My browns are all pretty similar, so they don't look that different.  I have lots and lots of brown because I just finished the top of Judy Martin's Peaceful Valley Log Cabin.  I really like all colors and see each and everyone has a place in my world. 

My box so far.  Thanks to the person who showed using a box lid.  My mystery clues in the past have been all over the place.  Now they are corralled.

After reading Bonnie's blog post this morning I had better go measure my triangles.  Maybe some are the wrong size and maybe that's why I found this clue so easy.  :)

clue 1

Another exciting Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt has just started.  I start a page for the current mystery every year, but I notice that I never add a picture of the finished quilt!  This year that will be my goal.  I also plan to find a place to take pics of my previous finished mystery quilts and add them to the appropriate pages.

I just love these 9 patches.  I especially love them in the smaller size.  I think I will replace the blocks where the colored cats overpower the aqua in the small squares.








I decided to replace the square with the orange fish with the aqua fin.  I decided if aqua was half of the square; I would keep it.  I did get all of clue #1 done.

All of my dark chocolate centers look the same although they are different fabrics.  I had the strips cut from the last Judy Martin log cabin quilt I made. It came from Extraordinary Log Cabin Quilts, and it is pin basted and ready to quilt.

Ringo Lake Clue 2 and 3

Clue 2  was a difficult one for me and I really don't know why.  I haven't had trouble in the past with making flying geese and getting the seam allowance room at the top. I think I did about twice as many as were required.  I ripped out and remeasured and resewed many many geese.  I finally finished on Thursday night. I used Bonnie's essential triangle ruler for both.  I will have to try using the folded corner ruler in the future and see if I get better accuracy.  Maybe I should have used the oversized square.

Clue 3 was not as hard.  I really like the folded corners ruler.  I used it with Bonnie's essential triangle ruler.  I thought everything was going excellently because I could tell when my triangles weren't cut perfectly because they didn't line up with the angle and length of the diamond cut by the folding corner ruler.  Well I had 20 that I had to redo.  Most were sewn inaccurately and a few were cut inaccurately.  The batik corner triangles were the most problematic.

Ashcombe Quilt by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.  Finished!  Binding was done while watching my new class sticks for my ScannCut by Jen Blausey.  I really enjoyed her helpful videos and my sewing.

Also I have 90 flying geese units done for the mystery.  110 more to go.

I have made many many flying geese in my lifetime, but I still have to make a few to get in the swing.  Using the esstential triangle ruler is my favorite way because I am not wasting.  :)

I just got back from Clydehurst Quilt Camp.  I had a fabulous time as usual.  Loads of good food, great fellow quilters, and quality sewing time.  I finished sewing on the binding or Carolina Chain from Bonnie Hunter's book, Addicted to Scraps.

Mom got moved into her apartment at Aspen View, and is settling in.  It is nice to have her close.
